And so, I’m almost an Australian now. I’d applied for Citizenship (after ten years here it was time. And I need to be able to vote against this sort of stupidity. And I do have an ulterior motive but I’m not talking about that right now) and 13 days later I’ve been accepted. There’s still a couple of stages to go… the ceremony where I recite the oath and get my certificate, and then I can apply for a passport. More paperwork! And I really don’t understand why they can’t streamline it all into one set of steps to avoid having to prove who you are and get photos notarised etc. But hopefully worth it in the long run.

Now Australia really is “the lucky country”… it’s got me ;)
